Butterfly@Lee Tung Avenue

I am happy to be invited by the Soap Cycling to make this art piece which is showing at the Lee Tung Avenue from now till 10th Jan, 2021. This art piece is formed by over 1000 pieces of amenity bottles collected from hotels and decorated with fruit wraps. (It’s now extended to the end of March）

About the artwork

The butterfly in wooden frame and different shapes of amenity bottles are limitations of design thinking and have a symbolic meaning of human mobility restrictions during the covid-19 pandemic. Nonetheless, the butterfly symbolizes spiritual growth and the transformation from caterpillar to butterfly is a metaphor of how we turn the Coronavirus anxiety into a wonderful life full of joy and creativity. I would like to present this to the general public as something that is colourful, tranquil, festive and full of positive energy wherever the butterfly spread its wings. My art piece composed of various floral patterns in circular shapes with red and green of Christmas flowers as the dominant colours. The middle part is decorated with flowers made from used fruit wraps. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in 2021 ahead.

好高興今次能夠被「再皂福」邀請，為其以回收樽做出一件藝術品，擺放於灣仔利東街，展期至由即日至明年一月十曰。(展覽會延期到三月尾)

作品介紹
固定型態的木架配上形狀不一的膠樽，猶如新冠肺炎對我們生活的限制，大家一直尋找新常態適應，而我也不例外。我並沒有被「現實」框架限制設計思維，反而利用象徵美好和幸福的蝴蝶，搭配以圓形膠樽和蔬果網製成的花朵，精心把平凡的蝴蝶蛻變成一隻會飛的「花蝴蝶」，藉此為大家帶來歡樂、創意及正能量—--即使在逆境中，也能發光發亮、享受生活。作品更以紅色及綠色為主調，營造出聖誕節日氣氛。在此預祝各位能享受一個愉快的聖誕及美好的新一年。
